Backpacker Award

Requirements

  1. Earn a longterm backpacking award (5 or more days).
  2. Earn two Trail Saver awards (12 hours of work).
  3. Describe in writing, your participation in the Trail Saver projects.
  4. Describe in writing, your most memorable backpacking experience.

The Fine Print

  1. Both the Backpack trip award and the Trail Saver awards must be earned in the same calendar year.
  2. Conservation work earned for advancement does not apply to earning this award.

Advanced Backpacker Award

Requirements

  1. Earn the Backpacker award.
  2. Earn an additional longterm backpacking award (5 or more days).
  3. Earn two additional Trail Saver awards (12 more hours of work).
  4. Scouts must have earned the Hiking, Camping, and Cooking merit badges.
  5. Adults must have completed the BSA Adult Leaders Backpack Training Course.
  6. Describe in writing, your participation in the Trail Saver projects.
  7. Describe in writing, your most memorable backpacking experience.

The Fine Print

  1. The Advanced Backpacker award cannot be earned in the same year as the Backpacker award.
  2. Conservation work may be performed any time after receiving the Backpacker award.
  3. Conservation work earned for advancement does not apply to earning this award.
